The Tarantara Theatre Tribe was formed in 2007 in London. It came about when a bunch of people who didn’t know each other came together in a hotel lobby to read scripts and thought to themselves: “Hey, wouldn’t it be fun if we did some acting of our own.”
The Tribe members love acting so much that they have volunteered their special powers to helping raising money for London-based or serving charities that are nominated by our members. We hope to entertain our audiences and benefit the community at the same time. We are also working with Script Writers who have volunteered their services to this cause and who are developing new plays which the Tribe will premiere.
The Tribe members come from many walks of life and have day jobs. If you know of a Tribe member, be extra kind and treasure them, because they’re lovely.
About what we do
First and foremost, we entertain the masses by acting! Tribe members do more than that though and some don’t act. They get involved with fundraising, stage management, costume designing, directing, marketing and publicity. Given the unique nature of this project there’s a large scope to be involved to make this the biggest and most successful fundraising event in the world, ever.
We aim to have at least one production a year depending on our schedule, and whether it’s a leap year.
Meetings
Our rehearsals are every Saturday afternoon in Central London. Get in contact if you would like to come along and meet us, or like to become involved.
We also have regular social events for which everybody involved in the Tribe can come along to. Once you’re with us, you party with us too.
